Ibobi promises fund for children park

The year-long platinum jubilee celebration of Hmar Students Association (HSA) culminated today with a grand celebration at Ngurte village with Chief Minister O Ibobi as the chief guest.
Today's event at Ngurte, the village where HSA was established in 1939, was attended by Chief Minister O Ibobi, Health Minister Phung-zathang Tonsing, HAC Chair- man Chaltonlien Amo, Saikot MLA TN Haokip, Henglep MLA T Manga Vaiphei and Parliamentary Secretary Vungzagin Valte besides several ADC Members and Chu- rachandpur Deputy Commissioner Lunminthang Haokip.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister O Ibobi promised to grant necessary funds for creating a Children Park at the HSA complex, Rengkai road and extended a cash assistance of Rs 1 lakh.
He also assured to look into the matter of infrastructure deficit at Ngurte village.
Further the Chief Minister appealed to all concerned organisations and individuals not to create problems to neighbouring States particularly Mizoram.
In his speech, local MLA TN Haokip said that Hmars are pioneers of Christianity in the southern district.
He also apprised the CM of the urgency to upgrade Saikot and Samulamlan TD Blocks to SDO blocks.
Prior to today's function the Hmar student body organised various events as part of its year-long celebration of 75 years of existence like painting and essay competition, jubilee football tournament, marathon and Platinum Star hunt.
