Road blocked over suspected human trafficking case

Thoubal, December 13 2014 :
Aggrieved families of two persons including a juvenile who alle-gedly went missing since December 2 and local people of Yairipok Huidrom Leikai today staged a road block along Thoubal-Yairipok road de-manding the concerned autho- rities to trace the whereabouts of the two missing persons.
Huidrom Pratap (13) s/o Akajao and Laishram Basanta alias Lukhoi (21) s/o Kullabi of Yairipok Huidrom Leikai remain untraceable after a man from the same locality identified as Laishram Ojit (30) s/o Shyamjai reportedly took them away from their respective homes.
Today's agitation was on the demand of tracing the two missing persons.
The protesters were also demanding the concerned authorities to deak with the case in transparent manner.
A team of Thoubal police led by Additional SP (Ops) Modhunimai rushed to the protest site to control the agitation.
The agitation subsided only when local MLA Keisham Meghachandra, who rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation, assured the protesters that fitting action would be taken up against the culprits.
Later, the protesters held a public meeting at Singa Lampak.
Loidang, mother of missing Pratap said he is their only son.
A class IX student of RSD Regional Academy, Huidrom Leikai Yairipok, Pratap went missing after appearing the annual exam for the first day.
He disappeared after Ojit, a senior, had taken him to Thoubal, Loidang said.
Mema, mother of Basanta alias Lukhoi said that her son, who is a mason, went missing after Ojit took him from home.
On December 8, local people of Huidrom Leikai Yairipok filed a complaint at Yairipok PS and Ojit was arrested the same day.
Besides, another person identified as Laishram Achou (57) was also arrested in this connection on Dec 11 .
The agitation was launched today to demand transparent dealings of the case.
