Imphal, April 03 2017:
The All Manipur Newspaper Publishers Association has submitted a memorandum urging the Chief Minister to formulate a policy to facilitate a better, incentivised and competent atmosphere for the fourth estate.
The association appealed to the authority concerned to set up a special economic zone and establish a Press Estate where newspaper establishments can carry out their activities without space constraints.
It urged for a subsidy policy regarding power consumption and transportation costs of raw materials used by the establishments by conforming to the existing industrial policy of the Government.

It further appealed for a streamlined procedure to facilitate efficient claim, recommendation and reimbursement method for the newspaper establishments and to formulate a comprehensive media policy (Publication of Government advertisements of the State) to each and every newspaper so that every establishment get equal opportunity which in turn will ensure better working experiences for journalists and other employees.
