The valedictary function of the 1st State Level Indigenous Medicinal Plants competition cum exhibition organised by Seven Yeks Development Society Laipham Khunou was held at GM Hall today.
Lok Sabha MP Dr Th Meinya Singh, founder president SYDS Laipham Khunou I/E W Joy Singh, Director (Hort and SC) Manipur Kh Kirankumar, Director of Research Central Agricultural University Iroi-semba and Sr Scientific Officer/EEW Dr M Homeshwor Singh attended the fucntion as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the function, Lok Sabha MP Dr Meinya said that Manipur which is home to a large variety of medicinal plants have not been able to utilise its full potential due to lack of scientific research on these medicinal plants and further said that all the agriculturist, horticulturist and botanist of the State should sit down together and work out ways to face the problem.
Stressing on the importance of peace and stability in bring about development in the State, Meinya said that development would come to the State only when the gun culture comes to an end and a sense of security is instilled in the minds of the people.
