The Students� Federation of India Manipur State Committee celebrated its 34th foundation anniversary at Hotel Excellency today with Manipur University Teachers� Association president E Bijoykumar as the chief guest.
State SFI president Y Bengki Singh and Associate Professor of MU Department of Economics Chinglen Maisnam also attended the celebration as president and guest of honour respectively.
The celebration was centred around deliberations by resource persons, floral tributes to departed SFI leaders and two minutes silence to mourn loss of several thousand human lives in the aftermath of the December 26 earthquake and tidal waves in South East Asian region.
The floral tribute payers also raised pro-communist and democracy slogans as well as of anti capitalism.
Presenting the key note address, State SFI vice president S Lulun Misao reminded the gathering of formation of SFI in 1970 at Kerala to uphold the cause and safeguard interest of the student community.
He also highlighted Student Federation of India�s ongoing stiff opposition to privatisation and commercialisation of education with socialistic future under the motto �Study and Struggle�.
