The Governor Dr SS Sidhu has contributed Rs 1.25 lakhs to the Prime Minister's relief fund for helping the victims of the recent Tsunami tragedy which claimed thousands of lives and damaged properties worth crores of rupees.
The Manipur secretariat employees have also decided to donate one day's pay to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to help the Tsunami affected people.
The All Manipur Government Employees Organisation and All Manipur Trade Union Council will also meet tomorrow to formally take a decision so that all the 80,000 employees of Manipur can donate one day's salary to the PM's relief fund.
The Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh had already donated Rs 15 lakhs to the Prime Minister's relief fund to rehabilitate the Tsunami affected people in the country.
In wake of the extensive loss to life and property in various parts of the country due to the recent earthquake and the resultant Tsunami, all ranks of the Array have decided to dpnate one day salary for the national relief efforts to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund, said a PIB Defence Wing) press handout today.
