The All Colleges Tribal Students' Organization Manipur (ACTSOM) has on Tuesday expressed condemnation over the kidnapping of a lecturer of Ng College, Imphal by unidentified miscreants recently.
The ACTSOM appealed all concerns not to repeat such incident in the future so as to make education a free zone.
ACTSOM president RN Koireng also expressed condemnation over the bomb blast inside Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) campus, Imphal while terming the incident as 'unfortunate' at a time when there is plan to develop the institution at par with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
It also appealed concerned group to desist from creating such havoc inside RIMS premise in future.
The ACTSOM also appealed the RIMS authority to re-start services since most of the people of the state are dependent on RIMS.
Meanwhile, the students' body also invites application from tribal student toppers in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSSLC) conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) respectively, for its meritorious award.
It said that the successful tribal candidates will be felicitated at a function to be organised by the ACTSOM shortly and award will also be presented to toppers of the said examination during the function.
It said the last date for submission of application form for the award is June 10 .
