The State Government has beefed up the security of its office buildings/institutions and Government vehicles in view of the agitation being launched by MAFYF to close down Government offices and plying of departmental vehicles in protest against the arrest of its president Sapamcha Kangleipal and demanding his release unconditionally.
The State Home Department has issued a circular in this connection on May 23 .
According to the circular signed by Principal Secretary (Home) DS Poonia, all Govt vehicles should be kept at a secured place, i.e.battalion/district headquarters of District Police/MR/IRB, Police Stations/Out posts and near security locations where security is posted provided space for parking is available after proper liaisons with the Superintendent of Police, Unit Commanders and Officers-in-charge of the PS.
Under no circumstances, Government vehicles should be left unguarded in the office premises or any other location, the circular said.
Restraining against utilising Government vehicles for any purpose except for official duty, he circular made it clear that responsibility should be fixed in the event of any damage to the vehicle.
Directing the chowkidars/night watchmen to remain present and alert at their respective places of posting round the clock, the circular said that the telephones installed in the offices should be kept in order with list of important telephone numbers.
The circular further said that the fire fighting support should be promptly extended to the office complex by the Fire Services Department which shall maintain high alert and necessary help should be taken promptly from the nearest security post/fire station in case of any threat or attempt to commit arson.
The circular has also directed that the police patrolling of sensitive areas should be intensified.
