The identity of seven underground activists out of the eight reportedly killed by security personnel during an encounter at Heijang, 20 kms north east of Henglep sub-divisions of Churachandpur district on June 20 have been established.
All the seven bodies have been handed over to their respective families after post-mortem at Churachandpur District Hospital today.
The 8 UGs were reportedly killed by personnel of 21 Para Regiment during an encounter.
Churachandpur police retrieved the bodies and deposited them at the mortuary of Churachandpur District Hospital yesterday.
The seven slain activists whose identities have been established today included four of PREPAK and three of UNLF.
The four slain PREPAK activists are identified as Maibam Abung of Moirang Khunou, Seram Rabei alias Sanatomba (21) of Moreh Ward No.7, Abujam Nanao alias Padamba, also from Moreh Ward No.7 and Lukram Muhindro alias Mikhail (35) of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai.
The three slain UNLF activities are N Boyai alias Thangarakpa (18) of Thanga, Loitongbam Kanhai alias Mason (21) of Wangoo Chuthek leikai and Phijam Sanahal alias Ahenba (30) of Sekta Makha Leikai.
According to sources, the other body which is still lying at the morgue of Churachandpur district hospital is likely to be one Paona from Heibongpokpi under Lamsang PS.
Grenade found at MP�s residence: Police recovered a hand grenade this morning from the court yard of Lok Sabha MP Mani Charenamei�s private residence located at Nagaram.
Lamphel police, who retrieved the explosive item, also registered a case on the matter.
According to police source, today�s incident was preceded by a case of stone pelting by some unidentified persons at the MP�s residence last night.
There is no report of injury in the stone pelting incident.
As the MP�s family members detected the bomb at a corner of the courtyard adjacent to the street and informed Lamphel police station a police team arrived and removed the hand-grenade.
