Imphal, June 23:
Expressing strong resentment at the indifferent attitude of the State Government to appeals for shifting ADC Office from Moreh to Tengnoupal, the ADC Demand Committee, Tengnoupal has threatened to intensify its agitation.
A statement issued by the Committee asserted that in addition to the ongoing economic blockade along the Imphal-Moreh route Chandel district bandh will be imposed along with non-cooperation movement including Government office closure agitation in case the Govt continues to ignore their demand.
Observing that opening the ADC office at Moreh hardly serves the purpose for existence of the public office, the Committee substantiated its point by contending that only ten percent of the Moreh population require the office with the remaining 90 percent of Chandel district people facing inconveniences due to distant location of the ADC office.
It also took serious note of State Government announcing construction of the ADC office building and staff quarters in defiance of the Committees proposal.
Citing repeated appraisals to the Government to address grievances of Chandel district people the Committee appealed to all concerned especially those engaged in contract works against being a party to the new Government endeavour till an agreement is reached with the Committee.
In untoward incident that occurs for defying the Committees stricture would be responsibility of the Government or the individual (contractor) concerned.
The Committee also disclosed organisations which pledged support to its cause.
