On top of working for proper maintenance of academic atmosphere, Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) said pledged to overcome all the problems being faced by the students of the university academically.
Addressing mediapersons at Students' Home of the University today, MUSU president Khundongbam Ashokumar announced the line of actions to be taken up by students' body for improvement of the academic atmosphere in the university.
He said MUSU would try its utmost and assist the university authorities in resolving the deadlock over demarcation of the University campus, complete 50 percent of the work related to replacement of defective power lines and electrical appliances in all the departments and hostels within the next 3 months, set up a park for teachers and students of the university, construct a separate building for the canteen which is presently located inside the Students' Home besides making arrangement for making available stationary items like pen, papers, etc at the canteen.
Internet connectivity in the University library as well as in all the other Depts, construction of buildings for those Depts which do not have separate buildings of their own, separate libraries and conference halls for all the departments, filling up all the vacant posts of teachers and non-teaching staff in the University as soon as the ban imposed on Government recruitment is lifted are some other developmental works which MUSU would pay special attention, Ashokumar added.
He further said that MUSU would exert pressure on the university authorities for constructing a separate building for Social Science Block, two additional hostels each for boys and girls each and a common recreation hall.
Organising a football tournament for women at the national level, Meetei Mayek campaign and introduction of course on Functional English and increasing the number of seats in Adult Education and Library Science, extension of existing bus route are also in the agenda of the MUSU's developmental works, Ashokumar said, while appealing to all the people and organisations for not giving any due interference in carrying out these development works.
