Nupilan observed outside the State

The 74th Nupilan observance programme was held at Ima Keithel Lairembi Ground, Hojai Natun Bazar in Assam yesterday.
According to a press release issued by the publicity secretary of Kangla Mei, Kamalini Leima, the programme was attended by Dr Ardhendu Kumar Dey, Irrigation and Soil Conservation Minister, Assam as the chief guest.
Floral tribute was paid to the victims of Nupilan.
Yumnam Leirikleima, president of Kangla Mei; L Tombi, president of Observation Committee and Th Romi, working president of the Observation Committee attended the function as the presidium members while Joy Konthoujam, general secretary UCM, Manipur; Johnson Elangbam, president of IPSA; Ayekpam Landon Leima, chief advisor of CLK Manipur; Waikhom Ananda, advisor TIPS; Dr Karam Ibungohal, VP of Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Assam were the special guests.
The guests of honour were Dr Meisnam Sanou, H Brajalal and Taorem Shyamkishore.
The programme was jointly organised by the 74th Nupi Lan Observation Committee and Kangla Mei, Manipur.
The Nupi Lan day was also observed at New Delhi under the aegis of Manipur Students' Association, Delhi with the theme 'Resist Neo-liberal economic liberalism in Manipur' at DU Park yesterday.
An essay writing competition was organised on the occasion.
A one-minute silence was observed by the crowds as a mark of respect and reverence to victims of not only Nupi Lan but also those who lost their lives for the overall independence and welfare of the society.
Meanwhile, the Nupilan was also observed at Khangabok Part-III Tangkha Leikai under the aegis of Vedsako, Khangabok yesterday with Kh Surnolata Devi, Adhyaksha of Thoubal ZP as the chief guest.
Speakers of the function included Social activist Dr Dhanabir Laishram, L Subash, District and Session Judge, Thoubal S Imocha, Associate Professor, Dr Kh Jugindro and RK Memcha.
