Govt to set up three industrial estates in State: Govindas

Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam has announced that the State Government would soon set up three industrial estates at Takyel, Thoubal and Bishnupur under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the inaugural function of MSME Expo cum Food Fair-2013 being organized by State Commerce and Industries Department in collaboration with National Small Industries Corporation and All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound here today.
Govindas further said that the detailed project report (DPR) of the three industrial estates has been sent to the Ministry and the estates would be set up soon after getting the approval.
This ambitious project would help to boost the State's economy, he noted.
The State's economy has been constantly affected by numerous bandhs and blockades.
The time has come for the people to raise strong voices against those who impose bandhs and blockades.
The State cannot run simply on government funds, people have to earn money through various economic activities, Commerce and Industries Minister enjoined.
Govindas also announced that the Government would take another project for providing solar lamps to weavers in the State.
The inaugural function was also attended by Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir, Principal Secretary of Commerce and Industries O Nabakishore, Chief General Manager of National Small Industries Corporation JK Mahanta and President of All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association Rishikumar.
More than 200 stalls are being opened at the Expo, which would continue till December 20 .
