Sustaining its campaign to detoxify the society from the harmful effect of consumption of tobacco items and curb sale of the same, activists of the proscribed RPF/PLA pulled up four women during a specific drive launch at Sawombung area on April 6 .
Informing media persons somewhere at a valley area today on the confiscation of the tobacco items and parading those hauled up for defying the outfit's ban on sale of tobacco products, a spokesperson of RPF's department of communication and publicity said the four individuals have been sternly reprimanded and warned to refrain from selling tobacco items before being released.
Cautioning that further defiance of the restriction would entail severe punishment, the spokesperson also announced closure of their shops located in Sawombung area for a five month period.
The four have been identified as Wahengbam Ibemcha Devi (60) w/o (L) W Ibohanbi of Sawombung Gate; Yumkhaibam Dalini Devi (55) w/o Y Damu from Moirang Kampu but running the shop at Sawombung Gate; Aribam Mimi Devi (50) w/o A Babuton of Sawombung Gate; and Takhellambam Yumjangbi Devi (57) w/o T Manichand also of Sawombung Gate.
