Imphal, April 08:
Khundrakpam Pradipkumar of Manipur has secured the sixth position in the 55 kilogram class of the Senior Mr India Championship held at Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on March 8 .
Interacting with news-persons after returning home from the national level competition, the 38 year old bachelor from Khamnam Leirak under Patsoi Assembly Constituency, exuded confidence that his Meerut stint and position has renewed his zeal to aim for the top title in the next venture.
Pradipkumar, who the Manipur AIDS Control Society has declared as 'Brand Ambassador of HIV/AIDS in Manipur' was diagnosed as HIV positive in 2000 but such status had failed to dampen his spirit and enthusiasm for the strenuous and challenging sports discipline.
"because of my unrelenting efforts to become a bodybuilder I have no worry about the disease and this is the message to the millions living with HIV and AIDS in the world," said the determined sportsperson who first revealed his health status after being crowned the champion in the 60 kg category of Senior Mr Manipur Contest held on December 16, last year.
Synchronising his love for the iron barbell/dumbbells with an uncanny knack of gardening as a hobby he declared he would work tirelessly and with utmost dedication for the cause of those infected with HIV for the rest of his life.
MACS had recently appointed Pradipkumar the 'brand ambassador' in honour of his perseverance against all odds and for showcasing to all that longevity inspite of being HIV positive could be sustained with the right attitude and efforts.
The body builder also conveyed his sincere gratitude to individuals and organisations for their financial and material help in preparing for the Meerut championship.
