At least two Railway officers and a driver of the North East Frontier Railway were killed when the Tata Sumo in which they were travelling was rammed by a loaded truck yesterday at about 11.30 am at Lhangnom in Tamenglong district, reports our Jiri correspondent, Jacob Panmei.
The truck driver apparently lost control following brake failure.
The deceased officials have been identified as Liankhothang Tonsing, Executive Engineer, Construction of NEFR of Nehru Marg, CCpur and Pulin Gogoi (35), Assistant Engineer of Sibsagar, Assam and driver Ranu Deb (40) of Rangkhasi, Silchar, Assam.
The officials were inspecting the Jiri-Tupul rail line, when the unfortunate incident took place.
