Students' Union launches stir

Kanggui, August 20 2013:
The Students' Union Presidency College Motbung set off its proposed strike by closing down the College and staging a sit-in protest in front of the College gate today to lodge their protest against the non-payment of Post Matric Scholarships 2012-13 to more than 200 ST students of the college and unruly attitude of the TD department officials toward the college and the Students' Union.
The Students' Union demanded immediate release of pending Post Matric Scholarships 2012-13 and apology from the Tribal Development and Hills Department Director at the earliest possibility.

In the meantime, the Students' Union forbid transfer of Teaching staff from the College during the academic session 2013-14 and demanded replacement of a Hindi teacher who was recently transferred to DM College, Imphal.
The Students' Union along with those students who do not receive the Post Matric Scholarship 2012-13 closed down the College at around 9:30 am and staged a sit-in in front of the College gate.
The agitating students displayed placards reading "Immediate release of pending Post Matric Scholarship for ST student", "College will remain closed till our demand are fulfilled" and "No to transfer teachers from PCM during the session 2013-14" .
