69th birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi observed

The 69th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi was observed by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) at the Congress Bhavan here today.
The observance was attended by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Ministers, MLAs and other functionaries of MPCC.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Ibobi appealed to the Congress workers to carry forward Rajiv Gandhi's dream of a progressive and unified India.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary is being observed every year to instil his sacrificial spirit and dedication for the service of people in the Congress workers.
He was a great national leader who had strived to solve every problem in the country.
The Punjab Accord and Mizoram Accord were some solutions brought during his Prime Ministership.
He had also desired development of information technology in the country.
Meanwhile, All India Congress Organization (AICSO), Manipur State also observed the 69th birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi at Gandhi Memorial Hall here today.
The observance was attended by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, MLA of Sekmai K Devendro, MLA of Yaiskul Elangbam Chand, former Speaker K Babudhon and other Congressmen.
Floral tributes were also paid to the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
On the other hand, a one-day voluntary blood donation camp in commemoration with the 69th Birth Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi was jointly organised by National Students' Union of India-Manipur and Department of Immunohaetology & Blood Transfusion, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) at Department of IHBT, RIMS today.
The event was sponsored by Manipur State AIDS control/State Blood Transfusion Council.
MLA of Henglep A/C T.Manga Vaiphei, MLA of Moirang A/C M.Prithviraj Singh, MLA of Tengnoupal A/C DK.
Korungthang, and MLA of Thanga A/C E.Mangibabu were also present on the occasion.
NSUI-Manipur has extended its gratitude to Dr.Maina, Prof.& Head of IHBT, RIMS for his co-operation in successful conduct of the camp.
