Imphal, November 16 2016:
Advo-cating clean recruitment process, especially in the wake of the relaxation on the ban on recruitment, the All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur has today urged the Government to do away with the practise of giving privilege to the 'highest bidder' and due emphasis be given to merit.
Stating that reservation quantum for ST in employment is the core issue of ATSUM, the student body in a statement said that those at the helm of affairs should maintain the latest notification of November 14, 2014 which states, 'if there are only three sanctioned posts for a particular service, the 200 point reservation may not apply and the third post may be automatically reserved for ST' .
ATSUM further said that the gentleman's agreement with the Chief Minister on June 16, 2016 for fulfilling the charter of demands may be reckoned before the election code of conduct comes into force.
The unfulfilled demands include setting up of BEd centres in the hills, regularisation of adhoc teachers, regularisation of DRDA staff, transfer of land records and overlapping of police jurisdiction, implementation of compendium on reservation for ST/SC and OBC in case of direct recruitment to group C and D post, added ATSUM .
In case the grievances are not addressed to, ATSUM will impose a chakka bandh from 4 am to 4 pm on November 19, it added.
