Kangpokpi, March 15 2020:
The Kuki Inpi Manipur and the KSO-Ghqs have appealed the State Government to look into the volatile situation besieging Moreh town at the earliest before the situation gets out of control and resolve the 'commando menace' faced by Moreh public regularly, once and for all.
A joint press communique signed by Gouminlun Gangte, information secretary, KIM and Khaiminlen Doungel, information secretary, KSO-Ghqs stated that they condemned the merciless beating of two innocent Kuki youths by police commandos who are still to recover from their critical wounds sustained due to the terror unleashed by men who are supposed to be law enforcers against all known norms and laws of human rights.
To set the record straight, the two victims who stopped their vehicle when asked by the police commandos were thrashed inhumanely on the allegation that the two had connections with the UGs.
When an elderly man who happened to pass by the place of incident requested the police commando to stop beating the innocent duo since both were personally known to him, one commando SI stabbed the two victims with his service pistol butt and screamed at the elderly person to mind his own business and leave the place.
The elderly man then contacted the area chiefs who immediately rushed to the spot, resulting the police commandos to flee in a hope to hide their horrendous crime, it added.
It continued that the highly objectionable claim of the news reports quoting police source, circulated in few State dailies regarding the attack on the police vehicle by the villagers who are supporters of the two victims is a desperate attempt by the security forces to paint a different picture of the now exhausted Moreh public, who have had enough of the high handedness of police commandos.
It pointed out that when the area chiefs and elderly men took the two bloodied victims to hospital, the police commandos were waiting for the victim duo while stating that the sight of police commandos even in the hospital enraged everyone around which had resulted in the slight damage of the police vehicle.
Eyewitnesses claimed that it was a miracle no one was injured considering the fact that the police personnel's audacity to plan for a second attack even in the hospital had enraged all the people present there including womenfolk.
In an unexpected turn of events, which baffles logic, police registered an FIR against the two innocent youths who are but victims by fabricating facts to their whims and fancies.
The duo who are currently admitted in Raj Polyclinic are frequently visited by police personnel and it seemed police are in all readiness to nab them.
They even attempted to force-discharge them, according to the joint statement.
KSO will not be a mute spectator to these glaring violations of human rights and will fight the system where victims are further victimized until justice is served, it said.
Moreh has witnessed degradation of law and order ever since the stationing of police commandos at the hill town.
The present incident is only a proof of how law enforcers play law breakers, it further added.
