Beat officials seize bird traps

Kakching, March 15 2020:
Officials of Forest Beat office, Kakching Range seized two bird traps from Pumlenpat while taking out a drive to check poaching of wild animals and birds, today.
The drive was also conducted at Moirangkompat and Wangoo Mamang Leingangpat of Kakching under the supervision of Thoubal Honorary Wildlife Wardens, M Open Singh and W Ramchandra Singh.
During the drive at three select places, two bird traps were seized from Pumlenpat.
No trap was found in the other two areas.
Speaking to media persons, Range Forest Officer N Munal Meitei said that the Forest Department was tipped off during Yaoshang festival of birds being sold in hotels.
The department has since been on the lookout to catch the culprits, he said and appealed to the public to be compassionate
towards birds and animals.
