Imphal, March 15 2020:
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has vehemently con-demned the attack on its camps at Noney and Tamenglong districts by NSCN (IM) on March 12 and 13 which led to the death of a Zeliangrong Tiger Force (ZTF) cadre, identified as one Lt Kadiningpou Gonmei of Pungsanmai village.
A statement issued by the ZUF secretary of information and publicity alleged that the recent attack/violence, even as the Indo-Naga peace process is nearing its final stage, is nothing short of terrorism committed against fellow Nagas under the cover of the ceasefire pact with the Government of India.
It claimed that even though ZUF/ZTF suffered casualty, it maintained maximum restrained realising that many lives would be lost from among the Naga brothers, particularly the Zeliangrong, as NSCN (IM) has always been using their cadres belonging to the Zeliangrong community to kill their own Zeliangrong brothers.
It mentioned that ever since its inception, ZUF has been working for the cause of the Zeliangrong people by following in the footsteps of the great leaders Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu.
Pointing out that it has no enmity with any organisations/outfits, it narrated that responding to the call of political necessity and for the future of the Zeliangrong people, ZUF entered into an alliance with NSCN (U) which is a prominent member of the NNPGs (Naga National Political Groups) and the Indo-Naga peace process.
However, inspite of being a co-member of the same peace process with the Government of India, NSCN (IM) has been indulging in destructive and divisive po-licies to disintegrate the Zeliangrong people with a diabolical agenda to grab the land and resources of the Zeliangrong people.
The ZUF/ZTF will no tolerate such destructive agenda, it stated.
On the other hand, it paid homage and respect to the deceased cadre, apart from extending solidarity to the bereaved family members.
It further expressed gratitude to all, including Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation, Manipur (RYOM) and Khoupum Area Village Authority Council (KAVAC) for their services and transporting the body of the martyred cadre.
