Retired director of education (U) Dr TS Gangte, addressing a public rally at Huikap Government Junior High School ground said vested interest amongst Indian bureaucrats and leaders always wanted to break up the northeast into many pieces.
Gangte said this is unfortunate but will never be allowed to happen.
The state may be underdeveloped, but its people are very mature and will withstand all divisive forces.
He said all communities must keep their identities at a level but at another must acknowledge we are all Manipuris and belong to this Sanaleibak.
The leaders and bureaucrats in New Delhi have no idea about the history of the place and have no scruples about breaking up the place.
He cautioned the people of Manipur to be alert about the moves of the Indian leaders operating from New Delhi for ultimately Manipur�s interest have little meaning to them.
He said the people must insist on written documents of all the assurances the Central leaders give them.
UCM member, N Joy who also spoke at the function said the Bangkok talk was nothing more than groping in the dark.
He said the dharnas for territorial integrity must continue so as to keep off the Indian land surveyor from attempting to splinter again.
