Imphal, July 29:
The JAC (transporters, Manipur) has agreed to resume movement of interstate transport and carrier services along national highways 39 and 53 with immediate effect following assurance of adequate security from the side of the state government.
The decision was taken during a meeting between representatives of the JAC, the state transport authority, and the state police department this morning.
The government convened meeting was attended by AMUCO president Ito Tongbram, JAC (transporters) president Kulwant Singh, and vehicle owners.
During the course of the meeting the transporters urged the state administration for maximum security cover in the larger interest of the state in the wake of the decision to withdraw the ceasefire extension.
The transporters also requested the state administration to make known the apprehension of the transporters regarding safety and security to the Nagaland government for making necessary security arrangements.
In this connection, the state transport authority has issued an appeal to all concerned for their cooperation in resuming transport services operating on NH-39 and NH-53 and all intrastate services in the larger interest of the general public.
