The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), has urged the authority concerned to conduct an impartial probe in the Yaingangpokpi incident of July 23 .
A statement issued by the student body said that the "unfortunate incident" which was captured on video and went viral on the social media is disturbing and urged the authority concerned to conduct an impartial probe.
President of TKS Shimri Raising and general secretary Yuimi Vashum categorily mentioned that the Tangkhul student body leaves it to the authority to conduct an impartial probe nevertheless said that such a wanton public display of violence depicts a sorry picture of the men in uniform.
"It is incumbent of the police to act in a dignified and lawful manner under every situation.
Unleashing such attacks on ordinary citizens sully the image of the police and portray a sad case of law-keepers turning into lawbreakers," alleged the student body.
TKS also expressed regret over the 'grossly inappropriate behaviour of the thronging bystanders who were heard encouraging the police during their assault on the citizens,' in blatant violation of all the Covid SOPs and total curfew in place now.
Such action amount to abetment of offence and is therefore highly condemnable, it added.
The authority is hereby urged to take cognizance of the aforementioned points of concern and ensure that such unsavoury incidents do not recur in the future, it added.
