Imphal, August 20, 2012:
While expressing concern over the exodus of NE students from South Indian cities, especially Bangalore, the All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) has appealed to all communities of the State to remain calm and not to resort to any unwanted reaction or play into the communal forces or create more violence.
A statement issued by the President of AMCO, Rev S Prim Vaiphei has also appealed all the Churches in the State to pray ceaselessly and to restrain their members from taking any unwanted steps that could lead to more violence and destruction.
"We understand the various situations and propaganda by various elements being played where there is every possibility of larger violence and destruction.
Many have suffered unnecessarily causing more hurt and bitterness.
In such a situation, we would like to appeal to the churches in Manipur to pray ceaselessly and to restrain their members from taking any unwanted steps that could lead to the escalation of the volatile situation," the AMCO statement said.
AMCO has also expressed that the organisation is with the returnees through their journey back home.
The All Manipur Christian Organisation reviewed the situation in view of the massive exodus of the people of North East people from the different states especially from Bangalore (Karnataka) and other important cities in India during its emergency general body meeting at MBC yesterday.
"We stand at the threshold of massive changes in times of history and we appeal that much understanding and solution can be brought with forgiveness and prayers on our knees to reduce human suffering and pain that had inflicted everyone and the various families who have been affected indirectly and directly," the AMCO statement read.
Stating that violence begets violence, the AMCO further pointed out that many problems of life can be solved with prayers and dialogue while appealing the people of the State to act wisely and look to the future with hope and creating solutions in many of the mired problems.
AMCO also hoped that the people of the State would help each other to increase the friendship and fellowship among the communities, strangers, migrants and various religious groups that live in the society.
