Chilly trader goes missing

Imphal, February 16 2016:
One chilly trader from Andro, Imphal East district who went to Kamjong, Ukhrul district in October last year to purchase chilly has not returned home till date.
Hijam Irabanta (38) s/o late Hera of Andro Khuman Leikai left home with Rs 15,000 at around 5 am of October 16 to go to Kamjong to purchase chilly.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Irabanta's elder brother Shyamchandra said that family members went to Kamjong and Chassad areas and met leaders of different communities on October 30.They also lodged a complaint to police but his whereabouts cannot be traced till date.
It was reported that Irabanta was physically assaulted by some armed persons on October 17 and he put up at night at Hotel Sunrise.
Andro Khullakpa Chingakham Gandhar Meitei lamented that one of his village folks who went to the hills in search of livelihood disappeared without any trace.
He then appealed all civil society organisations of different communities and the Government to help find the missing man.
Irabanta's wife, their five year old son and three year old daughter have been eagerly waiting for his return.
Gandhar further appealed to all concerned to release Irabanta if any group is holding him hostage and give a clear information if Irabanta had been killed.
