Imphal, September 14 2013 :
The Inter-national Peace and Social Ad- vancement (IPSA) celebrated its 15th foundation day at MDu hall, Yaiskul Police Lane today.
Speaking at the occasion, former IPSA president Yum-namcha Dilipkumar said IPSA's formation was not on-ly to highlight issues of hu- man rights violations in Ma-nipur at the international level but to join and contribute in eradicating various other malaise afflicting the Manipuri society.
While exposing rights violations continues to the focus of IPSA similar importance is being accorded to issues concerning demand for implementation of inner line permit in Manipur, Dilipku-mar affirmed and clarified that ILP should not be equated to prohibiting entry of non locals in the State but viewed as a necessity to put in place certain rules and regulations so that interest and aspiration of the indigenous people remain foremost.
Condoling demise of migrant workers in the blast at a workshed in Khoyathong area last night and stating that the incident should not be linked with the movement for implementing ILP in the State, he however opined that had the Govt initiated necessary measures for re-introducing ILP the blast would not have happened.
Addressing the gathering IPSA president Elangbam Johnson attributed the civil society organisation's existence for over a decade to its unflinching focus on streng-thening age-old fraternal bond amongst the indigenous communities.
With regard to the present imbroglio on indo-Myanmar boundary, he de- manded that Government of Manipur declare its stand on the issue at the earliest failing which mass public movement cannot be ruled out.
Besides former IPSA presidents Heikrujam Iboto-mbi Khuman and Ch shankar representatives of various civil society organisations also attended the anniversary function.
