PREPAK slams Ordinance

Imphal, February 07 2013:
While expressing serious concern over the rising crimes against women, the proscribed PREPAK has slammed the Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance 2013 which was approved by the President of India on February 3 this year.
A press release issued by the outfit's assistant secretary, publicity and propaganda Leibakngakpa Luwang stated that womenfolk of the land ought to support the proposed agitation of the All Progressive Women's Association.
The ordinance sounded like a thunder out of the blue to all women of the world, more particularly so in Jammu and Kashmir and North East.
Already, many Indian laws like AFSPA have been justifying all the atrocities committed by the State apparatus in this region, and these laws have been encouraging the Indian military to exploit women of the region, the outfit alleged.
Keeping aside some key recommendations of Justice Verma such as prosecution of the Indian military under ordinary criminal law without awaiting Centre's permission in case any one of them commits crime against women in conflict-ridden Jammu and Kashmir and North East, imprisonment of military officers from seven to 10 years in the event of any of their subordinate personnel committing crime against women, the Government of India only extended unbridled power to its military through the new ordinance.
The Government of India's political system allegedly based on racism has been challenging and disparaging all womankind on the earth.
The new ordinance was manifestation of the Government of India's policy of subjugating womenfolk.
The law was based on the Hindu philosophy of Manu Samhita which says women should be always subservient to men, the outfit alleged.
The Government of India's racism was reflected quite glaringly when obstinately refused to enforce AFSPA in Maoist affected areas of its heartland while it was more than happy to enforce the same Act in Jammu and Kashmir and North East for decades.
While the insurgency movement in Mizoram was crushed mercilessly using helicopters, New Delhi has been stubbornly resistingly all suggestions to use Air Force against Maoists.
These are all undeniable evidence of India's policy of racism and segregation.
As long as Jammu and Kashmir and the North East remain under alleged Indian occupation, it would be impossible to protect dignity and honour of the people of these regions, particularly women,
it asserted.
The only way out of this predicament is liberation of the suppressed people.
