Driver found killed in Kohima

Imphal, February 07 2013:
A truck driver from Thoubal Wangjing was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Kohima Town today morning while the handyman remains traceless.
The deceased truck driver has been identified as Ningombam Gobardhan (43) son of late N Manihar of Wangjing Hodamba Maning Leikai under Thoubal district while the missing handyman as Thanglan (30) son of Henech Kotim of Churachandpur district.
According to information received by Hueiyen Lanpao, the truck left Imphal for Dimapur on Imoinu Iratpa day.
After loading sugar bags from FCI godown, Dimapur, the truck left Dimapur on February 6.The truck was found parking at Kohima Town today morning.
At around 8 am, Kohima Police inspected the truck and found the driver dead inside while the handyman was nowhere to be seen.
There were injuries on the head of the driver as if he had been hit by some heavy objects.
There were also marks of strangulation with the help of ropes around his neck.
The bags of sugar which the truck had carried from FCI godown, Dimapur were also found missing.
Along with registering an FIR, Kohima Police have started investigation into the incident.
The truck is owned by one Ramesh Prasad of Ragailong, North AOC.
A team of All Manipur Transporters and Drivers, Motor Workers Union and family members of the deceased driver would be going to Kohima tomorrow.
On the other hand, the whereabouts of the driver and the handyman of another truck, who have been abducted by suspected KNF-P cadres from M Somlun area under Saparmeina Police Station in Senapati district, still remain unknown.
A combined team of Senapati district and 43 AR is conducting massive search operations in nearby forest areas to rescue the abducted driver and handyman.
