COVID-19 cases surge by 230

Imphal, November 19 2020:
Although there is no report of COVID-19 related deaths during the last 24 hours, 230 new COVID positive cases were detected taking the total to 22,548 .
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 230 people including one personnel of CAPF were tested positive at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Escent Diagnostics, IRI, Sielmat, Raj Medicity, Hillside Hospital, Iboyaima Hospital, Shija Hospital, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Jiribam, Noney and Babina Diagnostics.
The positive cases include 95 residents of Wangoi Assembly Constituency who were found positive during targeted testing.
District-wise, break-up of the fresh positive cases is Imphal West (142), Imphal East (23), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (20), Kakching (10), Ukhrul (4), Tamenglong (5), Churachandpur (8), Kangpokpi (1) and Jiribam (2) .
All of them are locals who do not have any significant travel history.
In the meantime, 172 COVID-19 positive people were discharged from CAPF (15), home isolation (79), RIMS (22), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkheng (11), CCC UNACCO (13), Kakching (21); Ukhrul (2); Sadbhavna (2), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (3) and Jiribam (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has surged to 22548 (general population 19630, Central security personnel 2918).This figure includes 2886 active cases (general population 2690, Central security personnel 196) and 19431 discharged cases (general population 16713, Central security personnel 2718) .
The recovery rate as on Thursday is 86.17 per cent while the death toll stands at 231 .
