Workshop on drug policy

A one-day workshop on study schedule of drug policy was held today at the conference hall of Anthropology Department, Manipur University under the aegis of Information Sub-Committee on State Drug Policy, Department of Social Welfare.
Prof Nabakumar of Anthropology Department, MU who moderated the workshop said that the society has been bearing the brunt of drug abuse.
Taking into the crucial importance of a drug policy so as to reduce the adverse impacts of drug abuse on the society, health and economy of the State and also to bring back drug abusers on the right path, the State Government is working on a drug policy.
To take opinions and suggestions from different sections of the soceity, the Information Sub-Committee has set different sets of questionnaires, said Prof Nabakumar.
The workshop was attended by representatives of Lifeline Foundation, KRIPA Society, CADA, SASO, Manipur Network of Positive People, Care Foundation, HERICOUN, Social Welfare Department and law enforcing agencies.
