NSTI extension centre inaugurated

Union Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, e-inaugurated National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) Extension Centre, Manipur, at the campus of Government ITI, Takyel through a video conference during the Digital Conclave held today on the occasion of the World Youth Skills Day and the fifth anniversary of 'Skill India' mission, organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.
The NSTI extension centre, Manipur, at the campus of Govt ITI, Takyel will facilitate training in the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) trades of Motor Mechanic Vehicle , Carpentry and Electrician initially by making use of existing infrastructure & equipment in the ITI for the benefit of ITI pass outs in the North East Region.
The extension centre was e-inaugurated in the presence of the Minister of State for Power, New & Renewable Energy (Independent Charge) and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, RK Singh; Minister of Labour & Employment, Dr Thokchom Radheshyam; Secretary, MSDE, Govt of India Praveen Kumar; Addl Chief Secretary to the Govt of Manipur, Letkhogin Haokip; Addl Secretary/Directorate General, Neelam Shami Rao; Additional Secretary, Labour & Employment, Th Chitra; Mission Director, Manipur Society for Skill Development, Kh Diana Devi; ISDS, Dy Director General, Deepankar Mallick; ISDS, Regional Director SS Naik; ISDS, Joint Director, RDSDE, NE Region, DGT, MSDE, Govt of India(GOI) BK Singha.
During the digital conclave, Labour & Employment Minister, Dr Thokchom Radheshyam expressed profound gratitude to Dr Mahendranath Pandey, for his consent to set up a new NSTI on a land measuring about 12 acres at Heirok village, Wangjing Tentha CD Block, Thoubal District which is a part of an Educational & Skill hub identified by Govt of Manipur, wherein construction of a residential senior secondary school & an engineering college under Rashtriya Uchhatar Siksha Abhiyan of MHRD, GOI, is under progress.
He said that the new NSTI will help in meeting the future demands and urged the trainers to take advantage of the opportunities that will be provided in the institute.
New NSTI will help meet future demand of CITS trained instructors in the North Eastern region of 7 States (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura).
The new NSTI will produce Vocational Instructors & facilitate need based short term training courses as 117 Engineering trades are being taught at CTS Level in the NE Region.
