Ukhrul, July 15 2020:
The Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL)Tangkhul Chief Association expressed strong dismay and shock over the incident of killing of 6 NSCN-IM cadres on July 11 at Nginu village in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh.
A press statement issued by TNWL Ukhrul said that the brutality and inhuman act committed by Indian Security Forces in killing six NSCN Cadres is very disturbing when there is a cease-fire and peace talk in progress.
The growing situation has brought anxiety and perplexity among the Naga population and has questioned the intention of killing and suspects that the act might derail the hard earned peace dialogue of more than 23 years under negotiation.
Disingenuousness act will not bring solution but aggravate hostility between the two parties engaged in the talk, it had stated.
Further, the Government of India must restrain the military action in order to minimize violence and to resolve the conflict for sustainable peace in all the Naga inhabited areas.
Both parties must recognize the importance of the political peace dialogue for prevailing peaceful atmosphere.
The Nagas yearn for peace and said that steps must be taken to prevent killing while the Indo-Naga peace talk is at progressive stage.
TNWL appealed the Government and its agencies to expedite political dialogue for early solution.
Both the parties must sincerely commit to the ongoing dialogue to way forward, not to vilify the peaceful environment at this critical stage, it added.
TNWL expressed their heartfelt condolences and share in the grieve of the bereaved families and further sought help from all the concerned authorities in bringing the mortal remains of the six deceased NSCN IM cadres back home to their respective villages.
On the other hand, the Khurmi Naga Peoples' Organisation (KNPO) has strongly condemned the killing of 6 NSCN-IM cadres by the the Indian Security Forces on July 11, terming it as an act of cowardice to create political turmoil.
The press statement by KNPO stated that the Government of India and NSCN (IM) have been engaged as two entities for political negotiation with the Ceasefire Agreement which is operational wherever the Naga Army is based.
However, the 'double standard policy' of the Government of India is the creation of 'Pseudo Indian Agencies' which adopts mechanisms to create incidents of conflict which may cause disturbance to the peaceful atmosphere and subsequently delay the process of finding political settlement, it stated.
The KNPO, 9 federating tribe units of KNPO and its frontal organizations (Naga Students' Organization Chandel and Naga Women Union Chandel) have conveyed their condolences to all the families of the deceased and pays respect to the departed souls for sacrifice rendered for the Naga people, it also said.
