Imphal, July 15 2020:
Saying that the rising prices of essential commodities are pushing the poor households in Manipur to a point of distress, All Manipur Youth Protection Committee (AMYPCO) urged the State Government to give stringent punishment to all who is/are involved in market manipulation.
A press release issued by AMYPCO also suggested that the State needs to learn some positive lessons from this pandemic which has 'greatly' affected the global economy to move forward in the post COVID era.
Though essentials are sold at exorbitant prices amid this difficult time, the State Government hasn't put up any genuine effort to check this issue, it claimed adding that issuing only order in this regard without doing any field works will not solve the problem of the most vulnerable group.
Asserting that showing sympathy to those who manipulate the market is also not advisable, AMYPCO contended that they along with like-minded CSOs will launch a drive if the State Government fails to do its part.
