Imphal, September 08 2019:
Group of MLAs camping in Delhi when Naga Peace Talk is 'nearing its final solution' is 'against' the interest of the people of the State, said Dr S Manaoton, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) member.
He made the comment during distribution of a water pump for farmers of Langthabal area, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency on Sunday.
He gifted the water pump to Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Kendra Development Committee Langthabal Unit.
He asserted that Prime Minister Modi has 'instructed' Nagaland Governor RN Ravi to 'finalise' the Framework Agreement by October.
"The MLAs lobbying in Delhi is against the interest of the people and as such people should teach them a good lesson in the coming elections," he said.
With the final list of the Assam National Register of Citizens (NRC) out, all North-East States including Manipur are apprehension about possible influx of those left out in the list, he said expressing that the MLAs should rather focus more on key issues which are threatening the integrity and identity of the State and its people.
The water pump was presented for farmers of four Polling Stations under the Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC, he said.
On State Government's declaration of drought, he alleged that there has been no visible practical work on ground to address the situation.
"Declaring drought and follow up measures on television and radio will not solve the issue," he said.
Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Kendra Development Committee Langthabal Unit advisor Aton Leishemba and many farmers were present.
