Imphal, December 06 2010:
A proposal forwarded by the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences to create some new posts of teaching staff has been turned down by the standing Finance committee.
According to a reliable source in RIMS, the RIMS proposed creation of some new posts of teaching staff including one Professor post for Plastic Surgery, one Professor post for Urology, one Associate Professor post for Cardiology, one Associate Professor post for Neurology and one Assistant Professor post for Endocrinology.
Even as the proposal was put up at a meeting of the standing Finance Committee held last month, the standing committee sought an explicit justification about the necessity to create these posts.
However, RIMS authority could not furnish any detail explanation.
The posts of Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors can be created if there is a recommendation from the Medical Council of India or based on local needs.
Nevertheless, the standing Finance Committee meeting deliberated on the annual fund requirement of RIMS.
