Cyber crime victim cries for justice

A girl whose nude photograph has been reportedly uploaded in social networking site Facebook has urged authority concerned to book the culprit(s) under relevant law.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Women Against Crime (Organisation for Indian Women Against Crime), Keishampat Konjeng Hazari Leikai today, the 20 year victim who is currently studying BSc Nursing in Rajasthan said that she and one Shyamchand (24) s/o Joy of Khundrakpam Makha Leikai were lovers and they even eloped twice in 2010.But they were separated so that both of them could complete their studies before entering into wedlock.
It was in 2010 when Shyamchand called his girlfriend to Delhi, where he was preparing for an examination.
It was during their stay at Delhi Shyamchand took many nude photographs of the girl using mobile phone.
Later around November-December 2013, Shyamchand opened a Facebook account in the name of the girl and uploaded her nude photographs.
The same photographs were uploaded for the second time in March-April this year.
It turned out that the nude photographs were taken with the girl's mobile phone in which an unknown SIM card was suspectedly inserted by Shyamchand.
The girl said that she has now changed her mind and would never enter into wedlock with Shyamchand.
Saying that what Shyamchand did was a direct assault to her privacy apart from smearing honour of the whole family, the victim demanded befitting punishment for her former lover.
Women Against Crime secretary A Robita said that such cyber crimes cause a life long blot to the social image of all victims in addition to defaming their whole families.
Saying that a complaint has been lodged at Lamlai police station, Robita urged authority concerned to book the culprit under relevant laws.
