Political class on important issues of the state held

A one-day Political Class programme was organized by Chanura Marup Manipur people's Party (MPP) at the office of MPP here today.
The programme was attended by N Sovakiran Singh, president of MPP; O Jugindro Singh, vice-president of MPP; M Amutombi Singh, vice-president of MPP; N Ojit Singh, vice-president of MPP and Dr L Chandramani Singh, former president of MPP as Presidium Members.
Speaking on the occasion, N Sovakiran observed that political discussion on important issues is much necessary in a democratic country where parliamentary system is followed.
He said that position of regional political parties in the State has now strengthened and considering the need for an alliance, the MPP had decided to go together with BJP.
The MPP president also hailed the people of the country for giving a massive mandate to the BJP in the just concluded 16th Lok Sabha elections.
Dr Mani, president of AMUCO, who was also present and spoke as a Resource Person in the programme, said that the role of political parties including MPs in protecting territorial integrity of the State is of paramount importance and pointed out that politicians need to work sincerely in this aspect without any political intention and self-interest.
He added that extensive awareness on social and political system of the State should be given to electorates taking into account of the globalization trend.
Today's programme was also attended by M Churamani Meetei, president of HERICOUN; Ven Panthowpa; Sapamcha Jadumani, social activist and Genine Laishram, convener of NEHRDC as Resource Persons and spoke on different topics.
