Imphal, May 17 2014 :
Saying that various issues besetting Manipur would be highlighted to the central party leaders including the Prime Minister- designate Narendra Modi besides demanding a thorough probe into alleged central scheme fund embezzlement, BJP State unit president Th Chaoba today left for the national capital.
Addressing a press conference at the Nityaipat Chuthek BJP office prior to heading for New Delhi, Chaoba said on invitation from the party national president Rajnath Singh he would leave for Delhi this evening to attend a meeting of BJP State unit presidents.
Stating that the State presidents would also be attending the swearing-in ceremony of India's new Prime Minister, Chaoba said his stay at the national capital in the coming days would include meeting central party leaders and prevail upon them to ensure all- weather road connectivity with special emphasis on the Imphal-Jiribam section of National Highway and suitable measures to check atrocities committed by anti-social elements against transport operators.

Pointing out that development of the said highway was also mentioned during Narendra Modi's election rally speech at Langjing Achouba, he also maintained that the PM-designate would be urged to develop the highway to a four-lane roadway so that people of Manipur need not rely on the disturbance-prone Imphal-Dimapur route for supply of essential goods.
Moreover, proposals for an effective water policy in the State and regularise power supply through implementation of solar power projects as well as demand investigation in financial irregularities in implementing projects including denial of prescribed wages to NREGA job card holders would be placed before the BJP leaders, said the former Parliamentarian.
He also reposed faith on the new central Government that Manipur would be freed from the scourge of AFSPA and insecurity over the territorial boundary would be history during the NDA tenure.
Contending that elections for the 14th Lok sabha conducted in the State was far from being free and fair, Chaoba alleged that unrestrained rigging of the democratic exercise by NPF supporters in the hill areas and Congress party using money power in the valley pockets diluted the BJP wave in Manipur even though BJP's election campaign-spearhead Narendra Modi's popularity swept the party to a comfortable victory in the election, chaoba observed.
The overwhelming victory margin for the BJP and imminent formation of a BJP-led NDA also implies that the State party unit should not rest on the laurels at the national level but work even harder to strengthen the political organisation in Manipur, he said.
Chaoba also expressed confidence that the NDA Government could concentrate on development of the entire country and bring about good governance as no opposition party was able to get even 10 percent of the total votes polled.
citing limited period of campaigning as one of the factors for the State unit not able to increase number of party parliamentarians in the 16th Lok sabha, he however conveyed gratitude to the people for their support to the BJP nominees in both the Outer and inner MPCs.
Party's Inner MPC candidate RK Ranjan also conveyed thanks to the people of Manipur for their warm support in the election.
It may be mentioned that both BJP nominees RK Ranjan and Prof Gangmumei Kamei finished third in the parliamentary polls.
