Imphal, May 17 2014 :
Ignorance about Hypertension, lack of care, negligence, irregular intake of medicines, inability to change lifestyles etc.
are reasons for untimely deaths due to Hypertension.
However, it can well be prevented with timely treatment.
This was stated by Prof..LShyamo, Director JNIMS during the World Hypertension Day observance organised by Manipur Heart care Society at the Conference hall of JNIMS, Porompat in Imphal east district today.
The theme of this year's observance was 'Know your blood pressure' .
Prof.Shyamo, who was the chief guest of the observance function, added that awareness on the disease cannot be generated only by the Doctors, as it requires the role of the media and the people as a whole.
The only way for prevention against Hypertension is to generate awareness and sensitization about the disease which is also aggravated by kidney ailments, diabetes, Typhoid, high cholesterol, lack of physical exercise, eating of adequate fatty foods, stress and strain, the chief guest noted.
He further said it has been 4-5 months that the employees of JNIMS have not got their salaries, thereby causing hardships to them.
As the government has almost finalized the process of fund release, it is planning to provide 3 months pending salaries to the employees as early as possible.
Saying that recruitment of required staff for the Institute is on the cards, Prof.Shyamo informed the gathering about the plan for establishment of 'A Scientific Society' .
Prof.Ksh.
