Imphal, May 17 2014 :
K Zou, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate of Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency in the just concluded 16th Lok Sabha election, has observed that only 8096 people in Manipur are against corruption.
K Zou got 4000 plus votes while Dr Ibomcha, AAP candidate for Inner Manipur seat secured 3000 plus votes the Lok Sabha elections, the results of which were declared yesterday.
Meanwhile, Khamchinpau Zou alias K.Zou, who is also the Joint Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party Manipur unit, has expressed gratitude to the people of Manipur for voluntarily displaying their commitment to the principle of AAP to eradicate corruption and corrupt practices in whatever capacity they can, during the 16th Lok Sabha elections.
He said as AAP is the 'next generation movement' for change, it will continue to fight for restoring the principle of 'just and fairness' to everyone beyond the boundary of castes, tribes, dialects in the state.
AAP can work only if people are honestly open for a change.
K Zou then said AAP Manipur is most happy to see that 7000 plus voters boldly showed their dislike (NOTA) for the entire candidates for the two Lok Sabha seats and 8096 voters voted for AAP for a change and against corruption and corrupt practice in the state.
"If the people in the government have a bit of concern for the common people in this stage of modernization, our beautiful house wives or daughters will not be still fetching water from ponds, lakes, fountains and carrying it on their heads or arms.
No students will be studying under a candle light and lantern and no petrol and diesel or K.oil would be openly sold on the roadside in an exorbitant black market price, and no petrol pumps and agents will put a sign board/notice no petrol, or diesel within two-three days of the arrival of the fuel from the oil companies and making the common people bow to the black marketeers," stated K Zou.
"Manipur is the only state in the northeast without an interstate transport bus services.
The entire public transport system from three wheelers to buses in all the districts is completely monopolized by the local associations.
How did the government allow private operators to charge helpless passengers of Rs 500 for a distance of 110 Km (Imphal-Moreh)? When thousands of acres of land and settlement areas are submerged by water for the Loktak Project and the Khuga Dam, Singda Dam, etc.
how is it that there is no sufficient supply of water and electricity in the state?," K Zou asked.
"I appeal to the government of Manipur to improve its constitutional obligation towards the welfare of the people," Zou appealed.
