Cultural & literary luminaries feted with CFM awards

The Cultural Forum, Manipur (CFM) celebrated its 56th foundation day at the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy auditorium here on Saturday.
On the occasion, CFP Awards were distributed to seven personalities and three founding members of the Forum while four Sahitya Akademi Award and Prize winners and another five CFM Lifetime Achievement winners in the field of art and culture were felicitated.
Participating in the function, Governor VK Duggal said complements the senior founding members who were facilitated today for their farsightedness and contribution towards enrichment of Manipuri culture.
"I also congratulate Gurus who due to their life-long devotion and contribution to the arts and conferred Lifetime Achievement Awards and other Award winners from different genre of writings for their cultural State," Duggal, who was the chief guest of the function, said.
L Iboton, president of CFM presided over the function, which was also attended by MLA L Ibomcha as guest of honour.
CFM conferred Thoibi Award 2013 (Creative Plastic Art) Lifetime Achievement to Thoidingjam Tombi Singh, Dineshwori Sahitya Mana 2014 to Aribam Chitrashwor Sharma, Huirem Amuba and Yaimabi Award 2014 to Elangbam Sonamani (Sahitya), Prof Chongtham Manihar Singh Lifetime Achievement Award 2014 to Laishram Samarendra, Lairellakpam Dharambir Literary Award 2014 (Young Creative Writer) to Parshuram Thingnam and Laishom Ongbi Indrani and Laishom Gitabali Lifetime Achievement Award to Ningombam Iboyaima.
All the Awards carried shawls, citations and cash.
Dr Mokhonmani Mongsaba, Sahitya Akademi Awardee (Literature) 2013; Raghu Leihshangthem, Sahitya Akademi, Bal Sahitya Purushkar 2013 winner; Akhom Yandibala, Sahitya Akademi Yuv Purushkar 2013 Awardee and Dr Soibam Ibocha, IPS, Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize winner were felicitated on the occasion.
CFM Lifetime Achievement Award winners 2014 included Laishram Ibohalmacha Singh ( Nat Sankirtan), Leimapokpam Yaima (Pena), Irengbam Kanhai (Phambak Lila), Khulem Ongbi Leibaklotpi Devi (Jagoi Ras) and Ningombam Ibobi (Sankirtan Pung) .
CFP founding members Y Sharat, retired MCS, Dr H Nabakishore, retired Professor and senior advocate Nokulsana were also honoured on the occasion.
Later, the Governor released the 155th and 156th issue of Ritu, a journal published by CFP and led the gathering in offering floral tribute to the departed members of the Forum.
