Killing of 3 Manipuris: Name of Lt Gen Dalbir removed from list of respondents

The case related to alleged killing of three Manipuri youths after torture by Indian Army personnel and subsequent disposition of their bodies at a place under Bokajan Police station in Karbi Anglong area of Assam in March 2010, has been filed in the Gauhati High Court following the advice given by Chief Justice of Manipur High Court LK Mahapatra and Justice N.Koteswar that the case be filed to the High Courts of either Nagaland or Assam, where the incident took place.
Interestingly, the names of Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag, who has been recently appointed as the Chief of Army staff; Brig Aswanikumar and Maj Gen Abhay Krishna who were respectively at no.5, 7 and 8 in the respondent list of the earlier writ petition no.18 of 2014 put up at Manipur High Court have now been deleted from the respondents' list of the case.
Informing this to media today, Advocate Khaidem Mani, who is also the president of All Manipur Bar Association and counsel of the petitioner, said that necessary notices have been issued by the Gauhati High Court and hearing for the case will be held on July 17 .
In a press conference held at the office of the Association, Mani further said the case was filed to the High Court of Assam on May 15 last with Phijam Manikumar, aged 53 years son of late Gulamjat of Thangmeiband Hijam Diwan Leikai as petition.
Manikumar is brother of one of the victims.
The three deceased in the incident were RK Rosan alias Ronal Singh, Thounaojam Prem Singh and Phijam Naobi Singh.
They were reportedly kidnapped by unknown persons from a house located at 4th Mile in Dimapur and later the kidnapers were identified as army personnel of Dimapur, Kh.
Mani said.
Major Nector and Captain Rubina arrested them as part of an operation under the command of Colonel Gopinath Shreekumar in the second week of March 2010.The family members subsequently submitted their missing report to the police.
