15 persons killed in fake encounters between Jan 12 and Feb 7 : UNLF

Altogether 15 persons have been killed in fake encounters by Manipur Police in collaboration with central security forces between January 12 and February 7 this year, alleged the proscribed UNLF.
Even as the police commandos claimed that these people were killed in encounters and that arms were recovered from them, it is very clear that all of them were killed in cold blood.
On January 12, N Puni and Thingujam Bheigo were shot dead by Imphal East commandos and 18th Sikh Regiment at Taobungkhok after Bheigo was called out by SI Uttam through mobile phone (no.9856272776). Thongam Bungbung of Lambal-Heinoubok was shot dead by a combined team of Imphal West commandos and 40 AR after he was picked up from his rented home of Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai on January 13, said a press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba.
In protest against the killing of Thangjam Anil alias Thoi of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai on Naran Konjil road on January 14, local people of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai staged a waakat meepham contending that Anil was an innocent civilian.
On January 15, Md Abdul Haque, Moirangthem Ibungo and Thokchom Dinanta were shot dead on Iroisemba-Lamdeng road.
Witnesses said that Md Issac and Md Mustaqin of Lilong Chaobok Mairenkhul whore were shot dead at Keirao Khullen road on January 18 were picked up by Imphal West commandos from Kakwa.
Md Jamir of Keirao Makting who was shot dead by Imphal West commandos at Lilong Shantipur on January 20 was an innocent civilian working in a dental clinic at Paona Keithel.
Sagolsem Jiten of Kongba Nongthonbam Leikai was shot dead on January 26 at Yaralpat.
Even though police claimed that Ahanthem Amujao of Sawombung gate was killed in encounter on January 28 at Khuman Palli, bruises and broken bones observed on his body testified that he was killed in cold blood by Imphal West commandos after subjecting him to severe torture.
Sanasam David of Sawombung Gate was shot dead by a combined team of Imphal East commandos, Imphal West commandos and troops of 9 Sector AR on February 4 at Langthabal Phuramakhong to cover up the killing of Amujao, the outfit alleged.
Wahengbam Jayenta shot dead by police commandos and AR troops on February 6 near Don Bosco Phayeng was also an innocent civilian.
Thongam Sana shot dead by police commandos on February 7 on Ningombam road was also an innocent civilian.
Given the incident of Khwairamband Killing of July 23 and inability of security forces to nab a single person alive, there is no doubt that all the 15 persons were killed in fake encounters, it alleged.
Though police commandos are not covered by AFSPA, they have been killing people at their own whim.
In the aftermath of the murder of Manorama in 2004, Assam Rifles have groomed police commandos as their own stooges.
All the people of the land particularly human right organisations, Meira Paibis and civil society organisations need to stand up collectively against the brute force of police commandos otherwise the people have to wait for their turn to be massacred, it alleged.
The outfit further called upon the general public to find a response to the unfolding scenario.
