Imphal, February 11, 2012:
Expressing unhappiness over the arbitrariness of bus fare charged from the passengers, thus, leading to constant arguments between the bus conductors and the passengers, Environment and Economic Management Association (EEMA) has drawn the attention of the authority concerned for ensuring uniformity in bus fare.
In a statement, Secretary of EEMA S Radhapyari Devi pointed out that the bus and auto fare which was hiked while there was the problem of fuel scarcity in Manipur has not come down even though there is no problem of fuel now.
There is also no fixed rate in the fare charged by the bus conductors from the passengers.
For instance, earlier the bus fare for travelling between Imphal and Sugnu used to be Rs 55.But at present, the bus conductors are charging anything between Rs 80 to Rs 70. Such irregularities in bus fare has led to constant argument between the bus conductors and the passengers, and before anything untoward occurred, the authority concerned should look into the matter and ensure uniformity in bus and auto fare, Radhapyari cautioned.
