Imphal, June 08 2015 :
A minor tussle broke out between an ADC candidate and security personnel today at the State Election Commission office located at Imphal West D/C office complex, Lamphelpat at around 3 pm over alleged intrusion into the office complex.
Daniel Leivon Lamkang, an independent candidate of 10 Aihang Constituency 41- Chandel alleged that he was thrown out of the Election Commission office when he went there to enquire about the complaint he had lodged after he was assaulted by 22 Assam Rifles personnel.
It was earlier reported that Daniel was assaulted at Kakching Khunou check post in the intervening night of May 28 and 29 while he was returning home after election campaign.
Taking strong exception against the failure of the authority concerned to take up any action till date, he went to the Election office to ask what has happened to his complaint but he was barred from entering the office by security personnel who were on duty there.
He questioned why such disrespectful attitude was shown to an ADC candidate by the security personnel and why officials of the Election Commission failed to intervene.
When inquired about the tussle, one of the security personnel said that they were ordered not to allow any trespassers inside the office complex so that election related works can be carried out without any disturbance.
They maintained that none of them hit Daniel.
