Imphal, June 08 2015 :
The Oinam Hill supporters of Naga People's Front (NPF) have said they are extremely disappointed with the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati who had initially refused to recommend re-polls in the four polling stations in the area.
The polling on June 1, 2015 was held in a peaceful manner, said a joint statement released by R Panii, an agent of NPF candidate Longkhae from 21-Oinam DCC and supporters of NPF candidate from 21-Oinam constituency DCC.
"The officers deputed at all the polling stations assured the villagers that there were no chances of another re-poll.
However, we are shocked and saddened that the re-poll was later conducted in all the four polling stations.
The only problem occurred was of physical assault meted out by Sunita w/o K S Paul Leo, former President of UNC and Rose, Headmistress Taphou Onaeme Junior School towards Sector Magistrate C M Pual.
Both of them are supporters of BJP Candidate," it said.
On the June 5, Assam Rifles were sent to Oinam Hill Village and harassed the villagers, the statement claimed and added that instead of providing security to the villagers, they only provided security to BJP State executives and the supporters of BJP at the residence of Khah Lawrence, P O, DRDA, Senapati till the next morning.
"On June 6, Khah Lawrence, P O, DRDA, Senapati cast two votes at the A-2 polling booth in the name of Reaya, slip number 515.He was caught by polling officer for proxy voting.
However, no necessary actions have been taken against him.
Khah Lawrence is the headman of Oname Taphou, a village which falls under Tadubi constituency.
His Apic Number is HQX0572453.And House Number is 86.Therefore, we want to question the District Election Officer as to how the Headman of Taphou Onaeme could create such disturbance in Oinam Hill," it added.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers used under aged hostellers boys and girls of Oinam Govt High School to cast votes in favour of BJP, it alleged, adding that not only that, the security forces divided the villagers in two groups on the basis of political affliations and in spite of the fact that NPF had 80(eighty percent) number of voters, both the parties were made to vote on equal sharing basis.
In spite of all these facts, the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati refused to recommend re-poll in Oinam Hill, the statement said, adding that it is an act of snatching away the basic rights of the people who are politically ignorant and economically deprived in the village.
Jacinta Lazarus, Deputy Commissioner should explain to the villagers as to why re-poll was conducted when the rich and educated made a complaint and refused to do the same when the poor and uneducated citizens come and requested for a fair and free electioneering process, it said.
It asked how re-poll could happen when no disturbance took place inside the polling station and why refuse re-poll when proxy voting took place inside polling station in front of the polling officers.
The news report that the Assam Rifles reached the village on June 5 in the morning and harassed the villagers was an allegation and that no incident of house arrest was take place either, the statement clarified and added that it was the supporters of BJP who came and guarded the Sate BJP Executives at the resident of Khah Lawrence and violated the Election Code of Conduct.
There was no UGs or NSCN(IM) presence in the village and such false allegations are highly condemnable, it said.
