One-day seminar held

Manipur State Archeology Department, Apokpa Research Centre and Bihu Loukon Star Shape and Land Protection Committee, Maklang II conducted a one-day seminar at Kangla hall today on the topic 'Rampart or holy palace of the Chenglei Leipak' .
Speaking at the occasion Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya said the star shaped structure found at Maklang Loukon could be one of the ancestral palace of the Chenglei kings and the surrounding structures, a former fort.
The area would be demarcated for protection and renovation procedure would be taken up as per the recommendations drawn from today's seminar, the MP stated.
The MP advocated mass circulation of the decision drawn by the experts in today's seminar and the details of Bihu Loukon in social media to increase awareness of the place.
He further counseled the panel to extend its discussion session to unroot the real history behind the structure.
The MP further necessitated the same to study the origin of the name 'Bihu' .
MLA W Brajabidhu Singh, DDK Imphal programme executive Manibabu Likmabam, social worker Dr S Ranjan Meetei, Additional SP, Imphal West Th Vikram Singh and Awangkhunou Z/P member M Sanahanbi Devi were also present at the seminar.
