In sync with the State Government's plan to develop Moreh as an international township, Haolenphai located near Moreh has been listed among 100 villages/towns selected from across the country for construction of smart cities.
To develop a smart city at Haolenphai, the Government would acquire 3000 acres of land.
This was conveyed to Chief Minister O Ibobi by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during a recent meeting, informed a well placed source.
The State Government has already decided to acquire 3000 acres of land at Haolenphai.
Industries Minister K Govindas and IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip have inspected the area identified for acquisition.
The two Ministers also chalked out certain terms and conditions of land acquisition with the land owners.
The Smart City which would come up at Haolenphai would have necessary infrastructure for logistics, health care, education, industrial estate and export-import trade.
On the other hand, CAF&PD Minister M Okendro today left Imphal for New Delhi to attend a meeting of Food Ministers of all the States.
The meeting was convened by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely to discuss the current trend of inflation.
The meeting would also deliberate on implementation of National Food Security Act in States which have not yet implemented the Act.
